Meet Your Dentist
Kyle Scott
Dr. Scott was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from Brigham Young with a Bachelor of Exercise Science degree. In the middle of his college career, Dr. Scott spent 2 years in Mexico City on a church mission serving the local community. When he returned, he started school at Loma Linda School of Dentistry and received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
Dental Services for Oro Valley Patients
Foothills Family Dentistry has cared for families across Oro Valley and nearby communities since 1984. Dr Kyle Scott provides preventive, cosmetic, restorative, and emergency dental care in one office, which makes treatment simpler for patients who do not want to drive between multiple providers.
Patients from Rancho Vistoso, the Oracle Road area, and surrounding neighborhoods are only a short drive from our office on North Thornydale Road. We see children, adults, and seniors in the same practice and explain what we find before treatment begins so you understand the condition, the cause, and your options clearly.
Restorative Dentistry

Dental Implants
Losing a tooth changes how you eat, speak, and feel about your smile. An implant gives that back. We place a titanium post into the jawbone, let it integrate over a few months, then seat a custom crown on top.
It functions like a natural tooth, no slipping, no adhesive, nothing that marks it as a replacement. Most healthy Oro Valley adults with adequate bone are solid candidates.

Dental Bridges
A bridge spans a gap left by a missing tooth, using the teeth on either side as anchors for a false tooth cemented between them. Two appointments take you from start to finish.
The first shapes the anchor teeth and takes impressions. The second bonds the finished bridge in place. Patients who are not implant candidates find bridges a reliable way to close a gap and restore a normal bite.

Dentures
When multiple teeth are gone, dentures restore function and facial structure in a way single-tooth solutions cannot. We fit full dentures for patients who have lost a complete arch, and partials for those with remaining healthy teeth to anchor to.
Every set is built from your own impressions, so the fit reflects your actual anatomy. Patients wanting more stability than a removable plate provides can ask about implant-retained options.

Dental Crowns
When a tooth has cracked deeply, broken, or worn down past what a filling can address, a crown brings it back to full function. We prep the tooth at the first visit, fit a temporary, then seat the permanent crown once it returns from the lab.
Porcelain blends naturally toward the front of the mouth. Zirconia handles the pressure of back teeth without chipping over years of daily use.
Surgical & Advanced Dental Care

Tooth Extractions
Teeth that have broken beyond repair, become too infected to save, or are crowding the rest of the mouth need to come out. Most extractions are clean and quick under local anesthesia.
Teeth with curved or branching roots sometimes need a surgical approach, a small incision and careful sectioning. If you are planning an implant afterwards, we can place a bone graft during the same appointment to preserve the ridge.

Wisdom Teeth Extractions
Third molars rarely have enough room to come in cleanly, which is why so many end up sideways, partially buried, or pressing into the tooth beside them.
We take panoramic X-rays first to see exactly how the roots sit before choosing the extraction approach. Simple erupted cases come out quickly. Fully impacted cases take more time but are still handled here without sending you to a separate oral surgeon.

Root Canals
An infected tooth does not always say so directly. Sometimes it is a dull ache or new temperature sensitivity. Once the pulp is infected, removing it is the only way to save the tooth. We clean the canals, seal them, and place a temporary seal the same day.
A crown follows to protect it from fracturing. Patients along Oracle Road and Tangerine call us because we do most root canals in-house.

Gum Disease Treatment
Gum disease does its worst damage quietly, long before gums bleed or teeth feel loose. We measure periodontal pocket depths at every checkup to catch problems early. Gingivitis responds to a thorough cleaning.
Active periodontitis needs scaling and root planing to clear bacteria from below the gumline. Patients from Honey Bee Canyon and Canada Hills who have let dental care lapse find that we can stop the progression without surgery.

Scaling & Root Planing
This procedure goes deeper than any standard cleaning. After numbing the area, we remove calculus deposits from below the gumline and smooth the root surfaces where bacteria cling between visits.
Most patients split it across two appointments, one side each time. Gum tissue that has pulled away from the root begins reattaching once the surface is clean, and pockets measure shallower at the follow-up visit when home care is consistent.

Oral Surgery
Minor oral surgery, bone grafts, frenectomies, removal of soft tissue growths, and biopsies of suspicious lesions happen at our office without a separate referral in most cases. Dr Scott reviews imaging and does a full workup before any procedure.
Recovery is typically light. Most patients are back to their normal Oro Valley routine, whether that is hiking Catalina State Park or keeping up with work, within a few days.
Cosmetic Dentistry & Smile Improvements

Veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin shells bonded to the front of teeth that are stained beyond whitening, chipped, or proportionally off. Prep involves removing a thin enamel layer, placing temporaries while the lab works, then bonding the final set at a second visit.
The result resists staining and holds its look for many years. Composite veneers are sculpted directly on the tooth in one appointment without any lab wait.

Teeth Whitening
Years of coffee, tea, and normal aging leave teeth duller than they started. Professional whitening reverses most of that because the gel concentration is significantly higher than anything available at a drugstore.
We offer in-office treatment for patients who want a fast result, and custom tray whitening for those who prefer a slower pace at home. Results typically last one to two years, depending on diet and habits.

Clear Aligners
Adults in Sun City Oro Valley and the Stone Canyon area have taken to aligners because the trays are invisible and come out for meals. No dietary restriction, no bracket adjustments. You swap to a new tray every week or two and check in periodically to confirm the teeth are tracking.
Cases that once needed braces for years can often be handled in six to eighteen months, depending on complexity.
General and Preventive Dentistry

Dental Cleanings
Twice-yearly cleanings go beyond a surface polish. The hygienist removes calculus that brushing never reaches, cleans into the contacts between teeth, and flags anything that has changed.
Dr. Scott follows with a full exam each time. Patients who keep this schedule rarely need anything beyond routine maintenance. Those coming in after a long gap get caught up at the first visit without any judgment about the time that passed.

Dental X-Rays & Imaging
Digital X-rays are taken routinely here. Annual bitewings catch decay forming between teeth before it is visible, and panoramic images give a full jaw view for implant planning and bone monitoring.
The digital format cuts radiation significantly versus older film systems and produces images on screen instantly. Frequency is set individually. Patients with a clean history do not need the same schedule as someone managing active gum disease.

Fillings
Composite resin fillings match the tooth, bond chemically to the structure, and require less removal of healthy enamel than older materials. We remove the decay, place resin in layers, cure each one, then shape and polish the result.
Patients from Rancho Vistoso and Copper Creek who come in regularly almost never need more than a small filling when something does show up.
Comfortable Dentistry for Children, Adults & Anxious Patients

Pediatric Dentistry
Families with kids in BASIS Oro Valley, Ironwood Ridge, and Wilson K-8 bring them here because the office is not rushed. Children get a full cleaning, fluoride, and cavity check every visit. We explain each instrument before using it, which helps kids who arrive nervous.
Sealants on permanent molars close the grooves before decay can start. They are one of the most cost-effective preventive steps we offer young patients.

Dental Emergencies
A dental emergency does not schedule itself conveniently. When a tooth breaks, a crown comes off, or an abscess starts swelling, call us at (520) 744-3480. We triage by phone and hold same-day slots for urgent situations.
Patients from El Conquistador and northern Oracle Road reach Thornydale Road without Tucson traffic. Knowing someone answers and gets you in the same day makes a real difference when pain is not negotiable.

Sedation Dentistry
We offer nitrous oxide and oral sedation for patients who need extra comfort during longer or more involved procedures. Nitrous oxide works through a small mask, takes effect quickly, and clears fast enough to drive home after.
Oral sedation goes deeper for patients with significant anxiety or complex treatment planned in one sitting. We go through both options before the appointment so you know what to expect.

TMJ Treatment
The jaw joint handles every chew, yawn, and word spoken. When it breaks down, symptoms spread: morning soreness, a click on one side, tension headaches, or trouble opening fully.
Most of this responds well to a custom occlusal splint that keeps the teeth separated during sleep, when most clenching damage occurs. We take measurements and build the splint to your actual bite rather than an over-the-counter generic version.
