Meet Your Dentist
Kyle Scott
Dr. Scott was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from Brigham Young with a Bachelor of Exercise Science degree. In the middle of his college career, Dr. Scott spent 2 years in Mexico City on a church mission serving the local community. When he returned, he started school at Loma Linda School of Dentistry and received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
Dental Services in Flowing Wells
Flowing Wells has been a fixture on the northwest side of Tucson for decades, the kind of neighborhood where people know their neighbors, kids go to Flowing Wells schools, and families have been in the same house since the 1970s. Foothills Family Dentistry on North Thornydale Road sits a few minutes east of the Oracle Road corridor, and Dr. Kyle Scott has been seeing patients from this part of Tucson since 1984.
We take care of the whole family in one office. The same practice that cleans your six-year-old’s teeth is the one that handles your root canal or builds your implant. No separate offices, no specialist referrals for most things, and a doctor who remembers your history between visits
Restorative Dental Care

Dental Implants
A missing tooth that gets left alone changes more than a smile. The jawbone beneath it starts shrinking within months, and nearby teeth shift toward the space.
We place a post into the jaw, let the bone grow around it over several months, then seat a crown on top. The result chews like a real tooth and holds the surrounding bone in place, the way only a root can.

Dental Bridges
A bridge fills the gap left by a missing tooth by attaching a replacement to the healthy teeth on either side. The anchor teeth are shaped to hold the unit, cemented permanently at a second visit.
It restores the bite, stops neighboring teeth from drifting into the space, and needs nothing beyond normal oral hygiene to maintain. Patients who want a fixed solution without the implant process find it practical.

Dentures
A lot of people have been wearing the same denture for years and chalked the soreness up to how it is. It is not. Bone changes underneath a denture over time, and what fit well at the start gradually stops fitting the ridge.
We do full and partial dentures built from current impressions, relines on older sets, and repairs. Come in, and we will look at what you have.

Dental Crowns
Teeth that have cracked, broken under pressure, or been rebuilt so many times that little original structure remains need a crown. It covers everything above the gum line, restores the original bite function, and keeps the tooth from splitting under pressure.
Two visits take care of it. The first to prepare the tooth and fit a temporary, the second to seat and adjust the permanent restoration.
Surgical and Specialty Care

Tooth Extractions
Some teeth reach a point where saving them costs more than they are worth. We look at root anatomy on imaging before choosing the approach. Simple extractions are done in one visit under local anesthesia.
Teeth with curved roots or significant bone involvement call for a surgical approach, which we handle here. A bone graft placed on the same day protects the site if an implant is planned afterwards.

Wisdom Teeth Extractions
Third molars that are impacted, growing at an angle, or sitting partially buried create problems that worsen the longer they stay. We take a panoramic X-ray before recommending anything, because root position and bone depth both affect how the extraction goes.
Erupted cases are done in a single visit. Impacted cases take more time but are managed here for most patients from the Flowing Wells and Oracle Road area.

Root Canals
A tooth that aches without a clear cause, stays sensitive to heat, or develops swelling near the root is telling you the pulp has been compromised. We remove the infected tissue, clean and seal the root canals, then place a temporary filling before you leave.
A crown follows to protect the tooth from fracturing. Patients along Flowing Wells Road call us because we handle most root canals in-house on short notice.

Gum Disease Treatment
Gum disease moves quietly. The symptoms that bring patients in, gums that bleed when brushed, a tooth that feels loose, breath that will not improve, have often been present for a long time.
We measure pocket depths at every visit to catch problems early. Early disease responds to a thorough cleaning. Active periodontitis needs scaling and root planing to clear bacterial buildup below the gumline.

Scaling & Root Planing
Once gum disease has moved below the gumline, brushing and regular cleanings cannot reach what needs to be addressed. We numb the area and use precision instruments to remove calcified deposits from root surfaces and smooth them so tissue can reattach properly.
Most patients do one side of the mouth per appointment. A follow-up confirms if the pockets have closed and the tissue is responding the way it should.

Oral Surgery
Most patients are surprised that procedures like bone grafts, biopsies, frenectomies, or cyst removal happen right here without an outside referral.
Dr. Scott reviews imaging first, walks through what the procedure involves and what recovery looks like, and factors in health conditions that could change the approach. Patients on blood thinners, managing diabetes, or dealing with other ongoing medical issues get a direct conversation before anything is scheduled.
Cosmetic Dentistry & Smile Improvements

Veneers
Teeth that are chipped, deeply stained, worn shorter, or slightly out of alignment are good veneer candidates. Porcelain veneers are lab-made to the exact shade and shape from the consultation, then bonded to the front of the tooth at the second visit.
The surface resists staining better than natural enamel. Composite veneers are placed chairside in one appointment for patients who want a same-day result.

Teeth Whitening
The staining from coffee, tea, wine, and time embeds in enamel in a way that store products are not concentrated enough to lift. Professional whitening uses a significantly higher hydrogen peroxide strength and produces results faster and more evenly.
We offer an in-office session for an immediate change, and take-home trays for patients who prefer to whiten at their own pace. Existing crowns and fillings stay the color they are.

Clear Aligners
Patients who had straight teeth and watched them drift back over the years, as retainer use lapsed, use clear aligners to correct it. The trays are invisible during normal life and come out for eating and brushing.
We scan digitally to plan the movement, no physical impressions needed. Most mild-to-moderate cases resolve within a year. We cover the exact timeline and cost before any commitment is made.
Preventive and General Care

Dental Cleanings
Tartar builds up in spots a toothbrush cannot reach, at the gumline and between tight contacts, and that is exactly where cavities and gum disease tend to start. Our team performs a full clinical exam at each appointment, covering cavities, gum tissue, wear patterns, and soft tissue worth monitoring.
Flowing Wells families with several kids to schedule can usually stack appointments on the same day when the schedule has room.

Dental X-Rays & Imaging
A lot of what matters most in a dental exam is invisible to the eye. Digital X-rays produce images on screen in seconds at a fraction of the radiation older film systems used. Bitewings are taken annually to catch interproximal decay early.
Panoramic images cover the full jaw for implant planning, bone assessment, and wisdom tooth evaluation. Frequency is set around your history and actual risk.

Fillings
Most cavities start in the deep grooves of back molars, where bristles cannot clean all the way down. Catching them early means a short appointment and a small composite resin restoration that bonds to the tooth structure and matches the surrounding enamel.
Patients near Randall Park and the Sweetwater Wetlands area who keep their regular exams rarely need anything more involved when something does show up.
Comfortable Dentistry for Children, Adults & Anxious Patients

Pediatric Dentistry
Kids growing up in Flowing Wells often come in with their parents or siblings already here, and we build on that from the first appointment. New young patients look around, learn what instruments do before anything goes in their mouth, and leave the visit feeling like an ordeal.
Every appointment covers a cleaning, fluoride, and cavity check, with sealants on permanent molars placed early.

Dental Emergencies
Most dental pain gets tolerated longer than it should. If a tooth has broken, something is swelling near a root, or the pain has been getting worse for more than a day, call (520) 386-0301.
We get people in the same day when it matters, and we will tell you on the phone whether to come in immediately or if it can safely wait until morning.

Sedation Dentistry
Patients who have put off dental care for years because of how it feels do not have to keep doing that. Nitrous oxide is inhaled through a nose mask, works fast, and clears before you leave.
Oral sedation is a prescription taken before the visit for a deeper, longer calm, better suited for significant anxiety or longer procedures in one sitting. We decide together which option fits the situation.

TMJ Treatment
Waking up with a sore jaw, a click that has been there for months, or headaches near the ears and temples are patterns worth raising at your next visit.
They almost always trace to clenching or grinding during sleep. We assess the bite, look at wear marks on the teeth, and build a nightguard fitted to your specific bite if that is where we start.
