Meet Your Dentist

Kyle Scott

Dr. Scott was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from Brigham Young with a Bachelor of Exercise Science degree. In the middle of his college career, Dr. Scott spent 2 years in Mexico City on a church mission serving the local community. When he returned, he started school at Loma Linda School of Dentistry and received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery.

Full-Service Dental Care in Drexel Heights

Foothills Family Dentistry has been serving families across Tucson and the west side since 1984. Drexel Heights patients coming up from the Irvington Road corridor or the Valencia area reach our office on North Thornydale Road in about 20 to 25 minutes.

We see the whole family in one place. Kids getting their first cleanings, parents dealing with crowns or root canals, grandparents asking about implants or dentures. Most of it gets handled without sending anyone to a specialist.

Restorative Dental Care

dental-implants

Dental Implants

Leaving a gap where a tooth used to be causes more problems than most people expect. The bone underneath starts shrinking and neighboring teeth begin shifting into the space over time.

We place a post into the jaw, let it fuse with the bone over several months, then attach a crown on top. It functions like the original tooth because it is anchored the same way.

dental-bridges

Dental Bridges

A bridge puts a fixed tooth back in a gap without the timeline or cost of an implant. The teeth on either side are prepared to anchor the replacement unit, which gets cemented permanently at a follow-up visit.

It restores the chewing surface and stops surrounding teeth from drifting into the space. Patients who want a permanent fix that does not involve a multi-month process find it a solid choice.

dentures

Dentures

Denture work here covers full dentures, partials, implant-supported plates, and relining or repairing older sets that have started fitting poorly. Everything is built from impressions of your actual mouth, and the fit gets refined over several visits until the result holds steady.

If something you are wearing now slips or causes soreness, bring it in and we will figure out if a reline or a new set makes more sense.

dental-crowns

Dental Crowns

A tooth that has cracked, broken, or been rebuilt so many times that there is little natural structure left needs a crown. We cover the entire tooth, restore its shape and strength, and seal it from further damage.

The first visit preps the tooth and places a temporary. The permanent crown returns from the lab, fitted to your bite and gets seated at the second appointment.

Surgical and Specialty Care

tooth-extractions

Tooth Extractions

When a tooth has broken through the root, spread infection past what a root canal can address, or decayed past any reasonable restoration, we have a direct conversation about what comes next.

We take imaging to assess root anatomy before deciding on the approach. Simple and surgical cases are handled in-office, and a bone graft is placed the same day, preserving the socket if an implant is in the plan.

wisdom-teeth-extraction

Wisdom Teeth Extractions

Most adults end up with wisdom teeth that do not have room to come in cleanly. They push against the adjacent tooth, trap bacteria where cleaning cannot reach, or stay buried and cause recurring infection.

We take panoramic imaging to see the full root picture before deciding anything. Erupted cases are handled in one visit. Impacted cases are managed here for most Drexel Heights patients without an outside referral.

root-canals

Root Canals

Pain that will not settle, heat sensitivity that lingers, or an ache that keeps coming back are signs the pulp inside the tooth has been compromised. We remove the infected tissue, clean and seal the canals, and place a temporary before you leave. A crown follows at a later appointment.

Patients near Kennedy Park call us because we handle most root canals in-house without sending anyone to a separate specialist.

gum-disease-treatment

Gum Disease Treatment

Bleeding gums get written off by most patients, but it rarely settles without intervention. We check pocket depths at every exam to catch gum disease before it reaches the bone.

The early stage reverses with a thorough cleaning and better home care. Once the infection has gone below the gumline and is affecting the supporting structure, scaling and root planing clear it and give the tissue a chance to reattach.

scaling-and-root-planing

Scaling & Root Planing

A regular cleaning does not reach bacterial deposits that settle onto root surfaces below the gumline. We numb the area, clear those deposits off the roots, and smooth the surfaces so tissue can reattach and pockets close down.

Most patients split treatment across two appointments, one side at a time. A follow-up visit lets us re-measure the pockets and confirm the tissue is recovering the way it should.

oral-surgery

Oral Surgery

Bone grafts, frenectomies, biopsies of soft tissue that have changed appearance, and small cyst removal are handled at our office for most patients. Dr. Scott reviews imaging first, explains the procedure and recovery, and addresses any health conditions that could affect the approach.

If you are managing diabetes, taking blood thinners, or dealing with other ongoing medical issues, get a direct conversation about how that affects the plan.

Cosmetic Dentistry & Smile Improvements

veneers

Veneers

Porcelain veneers cover the front of teeth that have chips, staining that does not respond to whitening, slight crowding, or edges that have worn down over the years.

We prepare the surface, take impressions, and place temporaries while the lab makes the final set to the exact shade and shape we discussed. The permanent veneers are bonded in at the second visit and hold up well to staining over time.

teeth-whitening

Teeth Whitening

Store whitening products cap out at a concentration that produces limited results. Professional whitening runs significantly higher, which is why the change comes faster and more evenly across every tooth.

We do in-office treatment for patients who want visible results in one appointment, and we make custom take-home trays for those who prefer to go gradually. Crowns, veneers, and existing fillings hold their current color either way.

clear-aligners

Clear Aligners

Adults who want to correct crowding or spacing without anyone noticing use clear aligners. The trays come out when you eat and brush, so oral hygiene during treatment is no different from normal.

We use a digital scan to plan the movement instead of physical impressions. Mild to moderate cases often close in under a year. We cover the full timeline and cost at the consultation.

Preventive and General Care

dental-cleanings

Dental Cleanings

Professional cleanings remove the hardened tartar that forms at the gumline and between teeth, the exact spots where cavities and gum disease tend to start. Dr. Scott follows with a full exam at each visit, covering cavities, gum tissue changes, bite wear, and soft tissue wear monitoring.

For Drexel Heights families with multiple kids, we try to fit everyone on the same day, so one drive covers the whole household.

dental-x-rays-and-imaging

Dental X-Rays & Imaging

Decay between teeth, bone loss, cysts, and impacted teeth do not show up on a visual exam. We use digital X-rays that produce images on screen within seconds at a fraction of the radiation older film systems required.

Bitewing X-rays are taken annually for most adults to catch decay before it gets deep. Panoramic images give us a full jaw view for wisdom tooth assessment, implant planning, and bone level evaluation.

fillings

Fillings

Back molars are where most cavities start because the grooves run deep and resist thorough cleaning. Caught early, it is a short appointment and a small restoration. We use tooth-colored composite resin that bonds to the tooth structure and blends with the surrounding enamel.

Patients near Casino Del Sol who keep their regular exams rarely need anything more than a filling when something comes up at a checkup.

Comfortable Dentistry for Children, Adults & Anxious Patients

pediatric-dentistry

Pediatric Dentistry

Kids need to leave the dentist without dreading the next visit, which means explaining what is happening before it happens and not making the appointment feel bigger than it is. We see children from their first tooth through the teenage years.

Each visit includes a cleaning, fluoride, and cavity check, with sealants on permanent molars placed early. Drexel Heights families who start young find that each subsequent visit is easier.

dental-emergencies

Dental Emergencies

When something goes wrong with a tooth, call (520) 386-0301 first. We hold same-day slots for situations that cannot wait and triage by phone, so you know right away what to do.

Patients from the San Xavier del Bac area and throughout southwest Tucson reach our Thornydale Road office in 20 to 25 minutes. For a knocked-out permanent tooth, keep it in milk and get here fast.

sedation-dentistry

Sedation Dentistry

Nitrous oxide and oral sedation are both available for patients who need more than a calm environment to get through dental work. Nitrous works through a small mask, settles nerves fast, and clears before you leave.

Oral sedation is a prescription taken before the visit for more significant anxiety or longer treatment in one sitting. We go through both options before the appointment and decide together what fits.

tmj-treatment

TMJ Treatment

A jaw that clicks, soreness every morning when you wake up, or headaches around the temples that keep coming back are worth addressing rather than managing around.

Most of it traces to grinding or clenching during sleep, and the wear patterns on the teeth usually confirm it. We evaluate the bite, check those wear marks, and build a nightguard fitted to your teeth if that is the right first step.
